Book Making (Production, Managing Editorial, & Production Editorial)

These departments are responsible for the in-house editorial, pre-press and manufacturing processes of turning manuscripts into bound books after acquisition all within the desired timeframe and budget.

The intern will work with all three departments and some responsibilities include copy editing, proofreading materials including TI sheets, reader guides, cover copy, font matter, marketing materials, and assisting with freelancer communication. Interns may also be asked to create, and track production schedules and communication.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DETAILS

Penguin Random House offers a 10-week PAID, REMOTE internship opportunity available in our adult, children’s, and corporate divisions. Interns are exposed to the publishing process and our business through panels, networking events, and employee speaker series!

Summer interns work for 28 hours per week and are paid $21/hour.

What you study does not matter! We are looking for your desire to work with books, your drive to learn and your curiosity for the publishing industry.

REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be ready to work full-time on or before June 2026(You do not need to be enrolled in college or have a degree to apply to our internship program).
  • Able to work 28 hours/week throughout the program
  • Available and commit to the program working June 9, 2025 – August 18, 2025
  • Must reside in the U.S. for the duration of the internship program
  • Must be over the age of 18
