JOB OVERVIEW
Develops and implements state of the art information technology strategies and platforms that meet current and future business needs. Performs all aspects of data and database administration including hardware and software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, applications, and technology platforms, security administration, backup and recovery planning, capacity planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards and procedures related to the database environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Support and maintain Microsoft SQL database applications.
- System tuning, performance monitoring, and database maintenance.
- Develop reports and custom requests for users.
- Assist with application and user support when needed.
- Lead a task force to develop and implement a database that addresses current and future business needs.
- Develop and implements complex data models and logical database designs.
- Design, construct and implements physical databases.
- Develop, revise and implement policies, standards, procedures and guidelines necessary to effectively administer the database environment.
- Plan and conduct structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance.
- Develop and implement plans to oversee the data and database administration function and ensures smooth transition to new technology.
- Perform routine and customary operational and monitoring activities to ensure the database environment is stable and capable of meeting ongoing business needs.
- Plan and executes testing and implementation of major systems.
- Evaluate technology and techniques to implement and maintain databases and database environment
- Develop, implement and test backup and recovery plans.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer programing or a related technology field
- 3-5 years’ related work experience in Information Systems.
- 3-5 years' experience with database technology.
- SQL Server DBA certification preferred
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter, ability to work without supervision on short term projects.
- Must have keen judgment to prioritize, plan, execute and accomplish goals in timely manner with accurate results.
REQUIRED SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
- Experience of SQL database running in a Microsoft environment.
- Experience with SQL workflow design and implementation a plus.
