The Role:

We are seeking a detailed orientated, collaborative and process driven Database Programmer to form part of our leading edge Real World Data team. The RWD Database Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electronic data capture (EDC) systems and study databases for RWD programs. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, implementing data validation checks, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of collected real-world data.

Key Responsibilities:

Teamwork and Leadership

  • Collaborate with wider RWD Team to ensure that the EDC system meets client requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with RWD Lead to facilitate integration with other systems such as safety databases.

Communication

  • Attend pre-design client meetings and lead online screen reviews and data review meetings.
  • Attend and present comments at internal review meetings.
  • Perform internal User Acceptance Testing (UAT) handover activities to provide RWD Lead with all information required to conduct testing activities.
  • Communicate any project risks to the RWD Lead, including the potential for missing a timeline.
  • Provide technical support and training to users of the EDC system and study databases.

Analytics and Technical

  • Design and develop electronic data capture (EDC) systems and study databases based on protocols and case report forms (CRFs).
  • Develop and implement edit checks based on client requirements.
  • Conduct design testing and validation of electronic case report forms (eCRFs), edit checks, visit schedule, form dynamics, custom alerts/checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Responsible for fixing of any issues or required changes to eCRF and Edit Checks encountered during system testing, UAT and deployment testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the EDC system and study databases once live.

Data Management

  • Develop and maintain documentation for EDC systems and study databases, including user manuals and technical specifications.
  • Participate in the review and development of Quality documents (SOP and working practices).
  • Identify and proactively develop process improvements to maintain data quality.

Organisational

  • Flexible and able to manage multiple programs simultaneously and deliver on timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and guidance, data privacy requirements, and company standards.
  • Understand and align on the technical and strategic data management goals of the organisation.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices related to EDC systems and data management.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in data science, life sciences, health sciences, or a related field.
  • Significant experience working directly with clinical or observational electronic data capture and management systems.
  • Significant experience in database design and proficiency in at least one widely accepted clinical data capture and management system is preferred.
  • Experience with programming languages commonly used in database development (e.g., SQL, Python, JSON, Web services).
  • Experience with Jira is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of real world evidence research is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities and to manage multiple assignments with challenging/conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills for implementing data validation checks and resolving technical issues.
  • Proactive approach to work.
  • Detail-oriented, customer- and quality-focused.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with data and client’s proprietary data.
