Summary
The Employer Relations Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining strategic partnerships with employers across a variety of industries to increase job placement and internship opportunities for CIAT students and alumni. This role involves targeted outreach, developing long-term employer relationships, and creating customized recruitment strategies to meet employer needs. The Employer Relations Specialist will organize employer engagement activities, such as career fairs, recruiting events, and networking sessions while staying up to date on market trends to ensure services align with industry demands.
Responsibilities:
Employer Relationship Building & Recruitment:
- Strategically build relationships with regional, state, national, and international employers for student and alumni recruitment.
- Establish and strengthen employer contacts through cold calls, mass mailings, and virtual engagements.
- Identify employer needs and recommend recruiting options, strategies, and sponsorship opportunities.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships, ensuring all external messages align with the organization's mission and values.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify learning needs and performance gaps.
- Determine the knowledge and skills required to meet hiring initiatives and employer goals.
- Work closely with the Career Development Coordinator to establish and coordinate work-based learning opportunities, such as guest speakers, job shadowing, mentorship, internships, and on-the-job training, to enhance employability and career-specific skills.
- Support the recruitment and development of CIAT’s Employer Advisory Board to provide insights and feedback on program development.
Data Collection, Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with the Career Services Advisors to ensure the thorough collection of employment and career-related data through surveys and other methods; review results and make recommendations.
- Monitor and report on graduate employment outcomes, internship placements, and employer satisfaction.
- Implement surveys and feedback tools to gather input from students, alumni, and employers for continuous improvement.
Event & System Management:
- Assist in coordinating job fairs and professional development workshops.
- Maintain, update, and expand the use of the institution’s electronic employer database (Handshake).
Additional Responsibilities:
- The Employer Relations Specialist is expected to attend in-person career fairs, networking events, and local and regional workforce development and chamber events.
- Occasional evening and weekend attendance may be required to accommodate event schedules.
- Adhere to CIAT’s compliance requirements to ensure all Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures are being met.
- Follow communication guidelines to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism.

Requirements
- Two years of work experience in a corporate, industry, or university career services environment.
- Effective project management skills with a track record of producing quantifiable results.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to prioritize.
- Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information, following confidentiality guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information and interact with students, colleagues, and others.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; dedicated to quality, quantity, and timeliness of results.
- Demonstrated ability anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent analytical skills, problem resolution skills and general business acumen.
- Proficient skills in MS Office software products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project and ability to learn additional software products.
- Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, academic departments, and administration to support student success, achieve institutional goals and contribute to a positive and inclusive culture.
- Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours to accommodate business needs and deadlines.
- Reliable transportation to go on campus, attend seminars/trainings, if required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Sedentary work. Essential functions of this role require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Ability to type, use a computer to search for information and input information while speaking on the phone is required.
- The employee will frequently be required to use the computer, mouse and telephone to conduct the regular tasks of this role.
- The employee will be required to compute simple to simple mathematical calculations as a normal part of this role.
- Requires travel to conduct CIAT business, as needed.
Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of this remote position, the job holder will work in a home office environment. Salary Range
The salary range for the Employer Relations Specialist is $27.00-$35.00/hr. However, the expected starting salary for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, experience, equity and other business and organizational needs.
