Job Description

About Corporate Responsibility

Responsible business is ingrained in the fabric of IHG and central to our purpose of delivering True Hospitality for Good to our wonderful guests, colleagues, and hotel owners across the globe. We believe that how we grow as a company and work to be a greater force for good are inextricably linked, so we’re empowering our people, and working with our industry, to help shape the future of responsible travel.

In 2021 we launched Journey to Tomorrow, our 10-year action plan of clear commitments to drive change for our people, communities, and planet over the next decade, aligned to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

We know that it’s never been more crucial that we move fast and act now, and our corporate responsibility team is at the heart of this, supporting IHG’s three operating regions – The Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia & Africa (EMEAA) and Greater China. We also hold responsibility for leading all ESG reporting activities and communicating progress to a variety of highly engaged stakeholders.

The Role

Provide specialist environmental guidance and support to EMEAA regional business functions and external stakeholders to achieve our global environmental sustainability commitments and targets.

Environmental Strategy & Targets: Assist senior leaders in developing and implementing regional environmental targets and strategies, and support internal initiatives like energy metrics, low carbon programs, and waste reduction efforts.

Sustainability Programs & Compliance: Aid in achieving external responsible business targets (e.g., Science-Based Targets, regional compliance requirements) and provide advice on sustainability issues such as energy, water, and waste management.

Data Analysis & Improvement Plans: Evaluate and analyse regional environmental data to support the creation of improvement plans and respond to inquiries from regional teams regarding environmental performance and data interpretation.

Corporate Responsibility & Engagement: Contribute to regional and corporate sustainability initiatives, support various CR managers in regional projects, and help integrate sustainability insights into business trends and market research.

What we need from you

Experience & Knowledge: Minimum 1 year of work experience in environment, sustainability, carbon, or energy management with a solid understanding of environmental and governance issues in the built environment.

Communication & Collaboration: Strong ability to clearly communicate and simplify complex concepts for stakeholders, and effectively collaborate with them on various projects.

Project & Data Management: Proven skills in managing multiple projects efficiently, handling and reporting on environmental data (e.g., energy, waste, water), and delivering data-driven insights and recommendations through presentations and reports.

Technical Proficiency & Customer Focus: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and a consistent, high-quality, customer-focused approach to providing clear, accurate information and anticipating stakeholder needs.

What we offer you

At IHG we give our colleagues greater flexibility and balance – working in a hybrid way, blending remote and office working. Although we thrive on collaborating in person, we expect that you’re likely to spend time working remotely. Every role is different, and colleagues work with their team and their leader to determine how and when they collaborate in person.

Our mission is to welcome everyone and create inclusive teams where we celebrate difference and encourage colleagues to bring their whole selves to work. IHG Hotels & Resorts provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees. We promote a culture of trust, support, and acceptance. Always welcoming different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Closing date for applications: 02/07/2024

At IHG, we’ve made a promise. As one of the world’s leading hotel groups, we’re here to deliver True Hospitality for Good. Making our guests and colleagues feel welcome, cared for, recognised and respected – wherever they are in the world. Want to be part of the journey?
