Job Title: Financial Controller
Location: Remote
Work Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Full-time)
Job Description:
The Financial Controller will oversee both of our businesses' accounting transactions and play a pivotal role in the financial management of both entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily financial transactions and ensure accurate reporting for both our businesses.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Implement financial planning and ensure efficient cash flow management.
- Monitor regulatory compliance and ensure timely tax filing, compliance with tax regulations and other legal requirements.
- Manage audits and liaise with external auditors, oversee audits and create financial strategies to minimize risks.
- Develop and implement financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
- Supervise bookkeeping staff and provide training as necessary.
- Recording daily financial transactions, such as sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Maintaining and reconciling the general ledger.
- Respond to financial inquiries from management and other departments.
- Preparing basic financial reports like profit and loss statements or balance sheets (often pre-prepared for accountants or higher-level review).
- Managing accounts payable and receivable.
- Handling payroll, if required.
- Filing and maintaining financial records for compliance.
- Preparing, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial reports.
- Monitoring cash flow and ensuring financial health. Collaborating with senior leadership to align financial strategies with business goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Has at least three of experience years working with companies from a construction/real-estate niche
- Extensive experience in financial management, forecasting, and reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- C2 Level English speaking and writing
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
- Expert knowledge in Quickbooks
- Experience with using Bill.com
- Experience with Buildertrend is a plus but not mandatory
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
- Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar is a plus.
