Job Summary
Location: Fully remote position with no travel or office visits required
Role Scope: Lead clinical translation quality control and linguistic QA for ICFs, protocols, IBs, patient diaries, and other clinical documentation, including QA checks, reconciliation, revision, client feedback implementation, outsourced translation quality monitoring, and continuous quality improvement initiatives, with a primary focus on review, QC, and language quality management rather than direct translation work
Collaboration & Tools: Work closely with Language Specialists, CASs, project management teams, and external suppliers while utilizing CAT/TMS platforms and maintaining translation memories, terminology databases, and style guides to ensure linguistic consistency and quality
Job Description
Thermo Fisher Scientific Language Services is looking for aKoreanLanguage Specialist with experience in clinical translation and quality assurance to join the internal team. Essential functions would include:
Coordinating and managing the final quality of assigned translations to ensure a high-quality standard.
Running language assets, e.g. translation memories, terminology and style guides:
Performing occasional linguistic tasks including initial translation, revision, client feedback implementation
Performing quality checks on clinical translations (ICFs, protocols, IBs, patient diaries, etc.).
Developing and maintaining terminology and style guides for the language
Ensuring Korean translation memories are updated.
Setting and executing linguistic quality assurance processes for the assigned language globally as required.
Using CAT technology to monitor quality of outsourced language translations and external suppliers.
Analyzing language quality issues and working on any quality improvement plans with project management team.
Requirements:
Native Language: Korean
Bachelor's degree in translations, linguistics or language studies with significant translation studies from a recognized institution or higher education.
Bachelor's degree in another field and 2 years of translation experience (preferred in medical device/biotech translation)
Preferred Background: Medical device, biotech, or clinical translation experience
CAT/TMS Tool Experience Required
Proven Terminology and TM experience required
Proven skills of multi-tasking, time management, organization, and attention to detail
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office suite
