Summary:
At NRG, we apply advanced analytics and modeling to address challenging business problems. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Help business partners reduce bad debt by identifying consumer behavioral patterns and system loopholes associated with sales fraud, payment terms, and other credit / payment activities.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and identify root causes.
  • Quantify the effects of various fraud prevention measures.
  • Develop dashboards that automatically monitors fraud and performance drivers.
  • Manage a small team to assist in research, analysis, and implementation.
  • Analyze and help prioritize solutions for greatest impact.
  • Translate, communicate, and present results and recommendations to a non-technical audience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Operations Research required.
  • Advanced Degree (MS, MBA, or PhD) in a quantitative field is preferred, such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Operations Research.

Experience:

  • 5+ year(s) in quantitative analysis / data analysis in equivalent industries.
  • Previous retail electricity market experience preferred.
  • Previous credit, risk, or fraud experience preferred.
  • Experience analyzing weblog data a plus.
  • Experience leading teams in a virtual setting.

Technical Skills:

  • Data analysis skills.
  • Strong SQL skills / understanding of relational databases.
  • Power BI or Tableau skills.
  • Proficiency with Python or R programming a plus.
  • Git for version control a plus.
  • Bayesian statistics a plus.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to translate complex business issues into achievable analytical learning objectives and actionable analytic projects.
  • Ability to interpret complex analytic results and develop practical business implications.
  • Understanding of the utility business, to include service process, market structure/pricing and competitive environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strategic marketing mindset and firm understanding of key financial concepts.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast paced virtual environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies and new analytics techniques as needed.
  • Think critically about analyses to ensure the conclusions make sense before sharing.
