Ardent is seeking a Mid-Level GIS Application Developer to join our team. As a GIS Developer, you will utilize your expertise in GIS technologies and programming languages to design, implement, and maintain geospatial applications that facilitate data-driven decision-making processes. This is a remote position.

Position Description:

Ardent is seeking a Mid-Level GIS Application Developer with a strong background in GIS, particularly with expertise in Esri products. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the development and enhancement of web-based GIS applications that empower our clients to visualize, analyze, and interpret geospatial data effectively.

In addition, you will collaborate with other team members, project sponsors, and government personnel to devise practical solutions to problems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy web-based GIS applications using Esri technologies.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and develop scalable solutions to meet project objectives.
  • Integrate GIS functionalities into web applications, including mapping, geocoding, spatial analysis, and visualization.
  • Utilize APIs to customize and extend Esri ArcGIS platform capabilities according to project requirements.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting to ensure the functionality, performance, and reliability of GIS applications.
  • Stay abreast of emerging GIS technologies and industry trends to enhance our offerings and maintain a competitive edge.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5-9 years of professional experience in web development, with a focus on GIS applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, and/or .NET.
  • Hands-on experience with Esri ArcGIS platform (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS Dashboards, Survey 123).
  • Familiarity with spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial) and GIS data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, Shapefile).
  • Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML5, VertiGIS, CSS3, RESTful APIs) and frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Experience working in the Continuous Development Lifecycle.
