Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. Shriners Children’s is seeking our next colleague for a full-time position as a Prospect Research Analyst on the Prospect Research and Management team.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Prospect Research, the Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation utilizing wealth screening, free and subscription research tools, and industry best practices. This position’s research and analysis serves as the foundation of Shriners Children’s national and local fundraising initiatives and directly contributes to the success of those programs. This position will respond to research requests to create concise, accurate, and timely capacity and inclination ratings, and research profiles using biographical information, financial data, news, and philanthropic history. The successful candidate will possess excellent writing skills, critical thinking skills, a natural curiosity, the ability to organize data, and be a self-starter who is motivated to work independently.

This position is Remote, but will need to travel for internal and external conferences as well as travel to Tampa for work as needed.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

  • Proactively and independently plan and execute strategies to identify potential planned and major gift donors;
  • Provide high-level research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of biographical, organizational and financial sources, including iWave, LexisNexis, and other external repositories of public information;
  • Analyze accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity, and affinity to Shriners Children’s;
  • Evaluate and synthesize research results to develop thorough and accurate donor profiles for gift officers;
  • With frontline fundraisers, collaborate and provide consultation on matters related to portfolio development, solicitation strategy, and information gathering. Interpret results for a variety of projects across giving channels;
  • Be an active participant in the Association of Prospect Researchers for Advancement (Apra) and/or your local/regional Apra chapter or other relevant professional development organization.

Qualifications

Experience:
  • 2 years of prospect research experience required, researching individuals, corporations and foundations using subscription and free biographical, organizational and financial sources.
  • Excellent writing skills required, with the ability to write clearly and concisely, synthesizing material from multiple sources in a coherent and accurate presentation. Finalists will be asked to submit a writing sample.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel applications required
  • Proficiency in using various Internet search techniques required
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, required
    • In relation to education, preference will be given to candidates with professional or educationally equivalent experience in fundraising or prospect research, library/information sciences, or financial or legal research.
