As a Senior App Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our databases, as well as supporting our application development team. Responsibilities
- Manage and look after the performance of databases across the organization.
- Analytical skills to determine root cause problems for data integrity, database performance, and data quality issues identified by the team, QA, or by business report owners.
- Develop data models to meet the needs of the organization's information systems.
- Maintains data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy.
- Stays informed of the ways the organization uses its data.
- Monitor database systems to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, including performance tuning and query optimization
- Design, develop, and implement database solutions and complex business rules in collaboration with the application development team
- Provide relevant technical guidance and support to other members of the IT team and the wider organization
Key Competencies
- In-depth experience with MSSQL and underlying technologies
- Data Integration design, development and deployment
- Strong relational and dimensional data modeling and database design skills
- Experience with techniques for addressing performance issues and ability to tune SQL queries
- Experienced in ETL development, data analysis, mapping, and automated loading.
- Analysis of data sources (data profiling, data quality, data discovery, etc.)
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong experience in performance tuning, T-SQL, and query optimization
- Familiarity with database monitoring and troubleshooting tools (such as Redgate SQL Monitor)
- Understanding of data integrity, security, and compliance best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong documentation skills including experience creating data flow diagrams
- Knowledge on Connected Business, MySQL, or PostgreSQL is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Business Intelligence platforms (Power BI, etc.) is a plus.
