About This Role

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Manager, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR). This individual will collaborate with cross-functional team members including Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs, utilizing their expertise in therapeutic/product knowledge. The Senior Manager, HEOR will spearhead the development and execution of HEOR and real-world evidence (RWE) plans, generating data that showcases the economic and humanistic value of Axsome’s products. These efforts are crucial for supporting product launch and commercialization, as well as enhancing patient access and securing product reimbursement.

This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Offer expertise in HEOR within cross-functional internal teams
  • Maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders, including Commercial, Market Access, and Medical Affairs
  • Develop and implement HEOR and RWE plans aligned with organizational goals and product objectives
  • Design and execute HEOR and RWE studies, including literature review, real-world effectiveness analysis, economic modeling, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) research
  • Analyze healthcare data, including claims data, electronic health records/ electronic medical records (EHR/EMR), registries, and physician/patient surveys, to assess treatment effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and patient outcomes
  • Develop abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations for publication in scientific journals and presentation at conferences
  • Collaborate closely with market access to generate evidence for payer negotiations
  • Create and maintain the AMCP dossier to support product launch and enhance market access
  • Engage with external experts on RWE generation and scientific data exchange
  • Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure the successful execution of HEOR research projects
  • Stay abreast of developments in HEOR methodologies, healthcare policy, and market dynamics to identify opportunities for innovation and enhancement

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D., or equivalent) in health economics, health services research, epidemiology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HEOR research, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in HEOR study design, data analysis, and interpretation of RWE
  • Strong technical and programming skills, must be able to analyze extensive datasets from claims databases, EHR/EMR, and surveys
  • Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge in depression, Alzheimer's disease, fibromyalgia, migraine, sleep, and narcolepsy
  • Strong understanding of health economic modeling, cost-effectiveness analysis, and budget impact analysis
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of simplifying complex scientific concepts into actionable insights for diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools for data analysis (e.g., SAS, R, SQL) and economic modeling software
  • Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications

Salary & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
