Summary
The Senior Salesforce Developer will join a team focused on maximizing efficiency and leveraging the full range of features and benefits of Salesforce to meet diverse user group needs. This role requires strong technical and communication skills, enabling direct collaboration with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and optimize the system accordingly. As the Salesforce Subject Matter Expert, this individual will promote user adoption, stay updated on new releases and AppExchange solutions, provide training, and serve as a key resource for ongoing system enhancements and support.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Create and Manage Changes to the System
- Develop and enhance the Salesforce.com platform, including Sales Cloud, Salesforce Mobile App and Communities.
- Champion development and integration standards, best practices, and their related deliverables.
- Collaborate with the team to design the data model, user interface, business logic, and security for custom applications.
- Build applications using both declarative (point-and-click) and code (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, etc.) solutions.
- Work with SOAP, REST, and Salesforce Connect / OData integrations between Salesforce and multiple systems.
- Manage system changes without interruption to the user.
- Modify the system to increase benefits and usability.
- Adhere to change control process.
- Manage all processes that impact / relate to Salesforce.com.
- Work to continually understand the new features added to Salesforce’s products and aid the business in regression testing as needed to avoid disruption from any Salesforce-side upgrade.
- Create and maintain fields, views, reports, dashboards, campaigns and other Salesforce.com objects and functions.
- Create custom objects when necessary.
- Handle on‐going customization/ alteration of Salesforce.com.
- Maintain, enhance and create workflows, functions and configurations within the Salesforce.com environment.
- Create new reporting capabilities and respond to ad hoc reporting requests as needed.
- Provide support functions as needed.
- Provide sales and financial data to company executives.
- Review, Prioritize, and implement Enhancement requests.
Maintain System, Security and Integrity
- Map Salesforce.com hierarchy and territories in response to personnel changes.
- Maintain security including sharing rules and security levels.
- Design, Create and maintain user roles, profiles and hierarchies.
- Monitor application storage usage and archive data as needed.
- Set permission and data access in standard and custom apps.
User Assistance, Training, Adoption and Satisfaction
- Assist with training to existing or new users/groups.
- Provide input for training content creation.
- Provide one to one training to end users on an on‐going basis.
- Expand use of Salesforce.com – attend planning meetings, assist with determining if and how Salesforce.com can be used in new ways as opposed to purchasing a new internal system.
- Assist sales operations to create processes in Salesforce.com to help monitor activities, trends, sales and leads.
- Communicate regularly with the user base regarding new features, enhancements and changes to the system.
- Monitor usage and mentor users/groups needing assistance.
- Continually seek ways to further enhance the end‐user experience.
- Act as 2nd/3rd level support for Service Desk Incidents.
- Provide mentoring for other SFDC team members.
Process Creation, Documentation and Maintenance
- Document created solutions.
- Document company processes and workflows.
- Develop process documentation and field maps.
- Create new processes and associated reporting.
Data Quality, Migration and Maintenance
- Assist with migration from older systems/processes into Salesforce.com.
- Import data as appropriate.
- Monitor and manage exception logs for back-end system integration with SFDC.
- Monitor and improve data quality.
- Ensure data integrity by merging duplicate Leads, Contacts, and Accounts; performing mass uploads and updates of data as required; Removing unnecessary fields and data; ensuring screens, fields and workflow have accurate names and reflect current workflow.
Report and Dashboard Creation and Maintenance
- Create and maintain dashboards.
- Create and maintain reports including folder maintenance.
- Develop complex, macro driven reports to summarize system information for Senior Management.
- Build and manage report folders for reps to improve sales efficiency.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent additional work experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years Salesforce administration/development experience.
- Experience with Salesforce Lightning.
- Experience with Salesforce CPQ.
- In‐depth knowledge of the standard capabilities of SFDC and have successfully expanded on those capabilities using custom code and/or integration with external systems.
- Experience with Visualforce development.
- Experience with Salesforce mobile development.
- Experience with 3rd party integrations.
- Experience debugging components and code built by other developers.
- Strong reporting background using standard reporting tools including standard Salesforce.com reporting functionality.
- Proven ability to utilize Salesforce.com as a sales analysis tool.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Salesforce Certifications—Administrator, Platform Developer (1 or 2), or CPQ Specialist preferred.
