We are a software engineering team within the Academic and Government division, which helps research institutions track and analyze their research data records.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer III, you will be working on the design, development and quality testing of the software development assignments for the Data Monitor web application. You will partner with cross-functional technical teams to deliver successful projects in an Agile environment. Your responsibilities will encompass end-to-end ownership, ensuring the implementation of customer-centric software solutions while maintaining strict adherence to security, vulnerability, accessibility, GDPR compliance, and other relevant standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain high-quality, responsive web applications.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other team members to define software requirements and specifications.
- Translate design concepts into functional and aesthetically pleasing web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks like React.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and user experience.
- Lead code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
- Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Resolve complex technical issues as necessary.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve our software development processes.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Overall Work Experience: 3+ Years
- 3-4 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Profound knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall.
- Deep hands-on expertise with JavaScript (including ES6+ syntax and features), React and its ecosystem (e.g., Redux, Context API, React Router) and Node.js.
- Experience with modern frontend build pipelines and tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite, Babel).
- Experience in building and contributing components for large design systems is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of HTML & CSS / SCSS
- Proficiency in writing front-end tests using libraries like React Testing Library, Jest, or similar frameworks.
- Working knowledge of AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, GitHub/GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards and best practices is a strong plus.
- Proven experience in software engineering design principles and architecture.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
