About the role:
Commissioning Engineer: Collecting large amounts of data about a building is easy, making sense of it is not. We convert building data into actionable information to benchmark energy performance, identify energy-saving opportunities, calculate returns on investment, and prioritize and implement selected measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management Skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a diverse team(s) of project managers, engineers, technicians, subcontractors and clients to support development, design, construction, and closeout of projects while meeting deadlines, budgets, and maintaining agreed upon schedules.
- Technical Management Skills – Demonstrated ability to support Commissioning Managers with coaching, mentoring, and training less experienced Commissioning Agents to promote success.
- Commissioning Process Management – Deep understanding of how Buildings, Systems, and Equipment are commissioned. Able to support development and implementation of Commissioning Process Standards, Templates, Schedules, Resource Forecasts, and Training Documents.
- Leadership Skills – Skilled at assessing project team talent/abilities to leverage resources to drive results. Able to provide a positive influence and guidance to project teams on a portfolio of projects and assignments in a fast paced and continuously changing environment.
- Quality Control Skills – Able to develop robust process controls that ensure consistent quality using practical and repeatable methods. Able to review project documents and deliverables to identify errors, concerns, or ambiguities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree BS Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Chemical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience working with mechanical, electrical equipment and systems, (COGEN, Boilers, Chillers, VFDs, Controls and Pumps.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain proficient skill levels in multiple technologies and systems
- Analytical Thinking / Troubleshooting – Ability to investigate and identify the root causes of problems, secure relevant information and identify possible solutions. Demonstrated ability to obtain data to effectively analyze issues.
- Communication – Able to accurately summarize issues and facilitate the exchange of information within project teams and to Managers. Ability to clearly and concisely explain observations and conclusions regarding technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Risk Management – Able to work with project teams and manage risks by identifying and addressing contractual obligations pertaining to scopes of work, schedules, costs, deliverables, commissioning, performance guarantees, etc.
- Document Control – Maintain proficiency with project tracking tools, scheduling and completing tests, collecting and organizing commissioning documentation, and tracking deficiencies.
- Design Review – Able to assist our engineers in reviewing submittals, drawings, and control sequences for compliance with project scope and design intent.
- Project Development - Able to assist with project surveys and provide input during project development and design to support design/build objectives.
- Education/Certifications: Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Chemical Engineering or equivalent technical education i.e.; Navy Nuclear Power program. AS degree in a technical field and additional experience would also qualify.
