Position Summary

The Staff Accountant I is responsible for assisting the Accounting Director with the Accounting functions and monthly close tasks as assigned for all entities under the NSPC umbrella of companies. This position will be responsible for complex GAAP issues such as revenue recognition and will perform accounting reconciliations and roll forwards of various balance sheet accounts. This role is general ledger based, not transactional based.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain schedules and prepare monthly journal entries for assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet assigned accounts.
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions assigned.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Manage expense review process for all Concur expense reimbursements.
  • Manage expense review process for monthly AMEX charges through Concur.
  • Assist Accounting Manager in implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the annual audit as needed.
  • Adhere to and uphold all applicable federal and state compliance regulations, the NSPC Code of Conduct, the NSPC Employee Handbook, compliance policies and procedures, and applicable healthcare fraud, waste and abuse laws.
  • Understand, comply with, and enforce all NSPC policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and OSHA and HIPAA privacy rules.

· All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or other related field.
  • Three plus years’ experience in accounting field.

· Proficient in Word and Excel skills.

  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite software preferred.
  • Experience with full cycle GAAP accounting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports.
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Working Conditions

  • Located in a fast-paced, professional remote environment.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment (including computers, phones, etc.).
  • Ability/flexibility to travel, as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive and regular periods of sitting, standing, bending, walking, seeing, talking, and listening.
  • Adequate visual acuity including ability to read information.
  • An occasional requirement to reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • An occasional requirement to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
