Technical Accountant - Cost, GCC, India

The role works with the Cost Business Partners to produce and understand the drivers of management reporting, which is used to understand business performance.

This role includes the production and review of journals and documentation to support month end cost processing activities, in addition to completion of associated balance sheet reconciliation activities.

The role will also support the business partners in the production of forecasts and monthly commentaries.

This role includes the completion of other Finance activities as required.

This position will be Remote at our India location.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Timely and accurate production and review of month end cost journals to a high standard, including accruals, prepayments, payroll and audit fees.
  • Expense reviews with Cost Business Partners, to provide insight into the cost base.
  • Process intercompany recharges between European and US legal entities and other recharges, including transfer pricing and associated documents.
  • Production and review of balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard and to agreed timescales, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and payroll.
  • Ensure the cost contract database is maintained through liaison with Cost Business Partners
  • Production of Office for National Statistics returns.
  • Ensure reconciliations are performed as efficiently as possible, using automated processes where possible. All reconciliations to be supported with relevant documentation.
  • Attend monthly balance sheet review meetings to provide an explanation of balances and significant reconciling items on balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Provide analysis reports for external and internal audit activities as required.
  • Provide input into other ad hoc projects/issues impacting the function as they arise.
  • Support business partners in the compilation of accurate and reliable cost forecasts, month end reporting and commentary.
  • Attend meetings with business stakeholders to explain monthly expenditures vs plan for smaller business functions.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of cost accounting and accrual concept on a US and UK GAAP basis
  • Balance sheet reconciliation experience
  • Very good analytical skills
  • Good computer literacy, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excel – competent in using pivot tables, formulas, and other techniques to efficiently manage and analyze data.
  • Questioning and inquisitive mindset, looking to find practical ways to improve outputs.
  • Excellent spoken English and able to explain financial matters to other finance or business stakeholders.
  • Able to write clear succinct business English.
  • Diligent with attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Sense of urgency with commitment to deliver results to strict deadlines.
  • Credible with finance managers.
  • A good standard of general education including Mathematics and English.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Good knowledge of UK and US GAAP
  • Insurance exposure
  • Use of data tools such as SQL or Power Query
  • Felita and Blackline systems experience
