Job Description

We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences. Healthcare is a universal concern, and we need people from all backgrounds and swaths of life to help build the future of healthcare. Clover's Business Enablement team blends their technical expertise with strategic foresight and a genuine passion for insightfully collaborating with others. We drive forward innovation, while keeping a keen eye towards enterprise risk, security and compliance. We are deliberate and self-reflective about the kind of team and culture that we are building, seeking technologists that are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting each other's growth.

Our Internal Technology team is growing, and we’re seeking a seasoned Technical Director to lead the charge. Reporting to the Sr. Director of IT, you will oversee all aspects of our internal technology infrastructure, including network, systems architecture, cloud solutions, data management, and engineering. Collaborating with stakeholders across Corporate, Medicare Advantage, and our Clinical Practice, you'll solve problems across insurance and healthcare, working on everything from corporate infrastructure to core insurance operations to direct member engagement and clinical interventions.

As a Director, Internal Technology, you will:

  • Serve as the solution architect for healthcare and insurance-specific technologies such as claims processing, enrollment and billing, member engagement and CRM, and data pipelines. Collaborate cross-departmentally and cross-organizationally to ensure effective implementation.
  • Provide overarching leadership to drive technical solution delivery to successful conclusions across teams. Proactively identify and address issues while maintaining momentum to achieve overall technical solution delivery.
  • Navigate solutions to issues with a collaborative approach, considering all stakeholder needs and inputs. Maintain positive and constructive working relationships with all participants in our technical solution delivery initiatives.
  • Lead the design, development, integration, and maintenance of data management and data engineering solutions that support our financial, operational and clinical pipelines.
  • Represent the needs of our lines of business in discussions with vendors and technology delivery partners, ensuring positive, successful, and efficient external relationships.
  • Along with peers in the Business Enablement organization, collaborate with business leaders, translating their needs into technology solutions that enhance workflows, productivity, and overall performance.
  • Champion the highest standards in IT security, compliance, and best practices for publicly traded organizations, including adherence to regulations such as HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOX.
  • Manage complex technology projects, prioritizing meeting timelines, budgets, and public reporting needs.
  • Stay ahead of the curve on emerging technologies to ensure our systems are positioned for growth and adaptability.

Success in this role looks like:

  • Within the first 90 days, success will be measured by defining a clear vision and plan for the future state, creating a detailed roadmap for optimization, and addressing existing technical debt to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Within 6 months, success will be demonstrated by ensuring that internal customers have the necessary tools and data to execute in their functions efficiently.
  • Future success in this role will be measured by:
    • Building a comprehensive suite of tools and growing a talented team to optimize and accelerate our approach to Clover’s changing needs.
    • Effectively optimizing financial and human resources to ensure balanced workloads and maximum efficiency.

You should get in touch if:

  • You have 5+ years of progressive technical experience in a Healthcare Payer organization, preferably in Medicare Advantage, with a strong background in technical leadership or architecture roles and experience in people or relationship management.
  • You have 10+ years of technical expertise with a strong focus on data-centric solutions.
  • You have proven experience in making strategic build vs. buy decisions which have resulted in significant revenue-positive outcomes.
  • You are advanced in data literacy, including expertise in SQL and data warehousing, with the ability to infer and drive solutions collaboratively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • You have extensive experience in owning and managing cloud infrastructure and integrating SaaS solutions.
