PATH’s Center for Malaria Control and Elimination (CMCE) workings with PATH staff and strategic partners to coordinate expertise and programming and maximize our collective impact toward malaria elimination.

PATH seeks a Technical Officer for the USAID-funded Reaching every at-risk community and household with malaria services (REACH Malaria) global project. REACH aims to provide implementation support services and technical assistance to countries to accelerate progress in comprehensive delivery of facility and community-based malaria services, including malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), health systems strengthening, data collection and use for service delivery, and other malaria prevention interventions.

The Technical Officer will report to the Malaria Technical Advisor and will provide technical expertise, coordination, planning, integration, and supervision of all REACH Malaria activities at the focus district, sub district, and community level. The officer will work closely with the subnational Malaria Coordinator and provide all the necessary support to ensure the successful implementation of project activities, including work planning, budgeting, implementation of planned activities, and reporting. S/he will lead the PATH team in strengthening integration of the project activities at the district and sub district level.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in program coordination and implementation at district, sub-district and community level.

  • Participate in development and implementation of work plan and budget.

  • Implementing and monitoring of work plans, budgets, and reporting.

  • Coordinate technical assistance for program implementation.

  • Assist the Malaria Technical Advisor in the design implementation, monitoring, and assessment of activities.

  • Assist in the development of new program approaches that are linked to related services.

  • Work with REACH and PATH consultants to implement training, supportive supervision services, and programs.

  • Maintain partnerships on behalf of REACH with District Health Management teams, donors, and other partners.

  • Support documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learn.

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience required.

  • Registered clinical officer or registered nurse; Possess strong clinical and training skills, particularly in the areas of malaria.

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience, particularly in the areas of malaria.

  • Experience working with MoH personnel and good knowledge of health systems and programs.

  • A demonstrated track record of providing mentorship and supervision for strengthening healthcare services; training in quality improvement approaches; Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to facilitate program implementation.

  • Computer skills including demonstrated hands-on-experience with MS Suite-Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Knowledge: (functional or technical):

  • Basic understanding of malaria and health related issues, with a national focus is necessary.

  • Excellent understanding of USAID programs.

  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of civil society organizations/ NGOs/CBOs capacity assessment and building is an added value.

  • Possess up-to-date knowledge, skills and attitude and can impact this to others.
