What this position entails

The Milliman IntelliScript suite of software products provides intelligent analysis of prescription histories, medical claims, and other data. The Solutions Consulting team focuses on designing, executing, and delivering proof of concept studies that showcase the value proposition of our products, mainly for life insurance underwriting. The Actuarial Analyst’s main responsibilities include processing, analyzing, and creating study deliverables. The analyst will need to collaborate with clinicians, project managers, solutions consultants, and other internal team members. The Actuarial Analyst must utilize various data processing programs to analyze large data sets. Additional responsibilities include responding to client questions, research projects, and internal process improvement.

What you’ll be doing

  • Creative problem-solving using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to organize and analyze information
  • Automation and efficiency improvement of tools through PowerBI, Databricks, programming languages, or other approaches
  • Effectively communicate results through internal presentations in a clear and concise manner
  • Anticipate and address questions that will arise during internal review and client delivery
  • Use discretion and independent judgment to determine how to complete assigned projects, subject to peer review
  • Work with external and internal clients to create high quality deliverables that effectively meet their goals and showcase the value of our products
  • Balance numerous projects/tasks with varying deadlines and difficulty without sacrificing quality of work

What we need

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or other major with quantitative course work
  • 2 or more successfully completed actuarial exams (demonstrated exam success)
  • 0 - 3 years of work experience in the actuarial profession
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel
  • Exposure to SQL server, R, Python, or other programming language(s)

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is December 31, 2024. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

The salary range is $56,000 - $131,000, depending on relevant factors, including but not limited to education, skills, certifications, and location. If relevant experience is less than 2 years, the range would be $56,000 - $117,000; for experience of greater than 2 years, the range would be $63,000 - $131,000. In addition, we offer a performance-based bonus plan, profit sharing, and generous benefits.
