This position is to provide support for Oracle Exadata and other DBA maintained patching as well as database object changes for Oracle databases following documented processes. This is a 24x7 environment with a Sunday maintenance window.
This is a junior to intermediate level DBA position. Due to the maintenance window when most work is required to be completed, associate base work schedule would be Friday – Tuesday 10:30 am - 07:30 pm IST (note this means the India shift will shift 1 hour with U.S. daylight savings time changes) to cover the maintenance window period. Depending on work, may be necessary to put in extra hours.
Required Skills :
- Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools
- Knowledge and experience with scripting (Perl, C Shell)
- A good understanding of the underlying operating system (Linux)
- A good knowledge of the physical database design (including partitioning)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Minimum 2 years Oracle DBA or equivalent developer/systems administration experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent experience
- Understanding of DataGuard and RAC a plus
- Knowledge and experience with Exadata ExaCC Gen2 and above a plus
- Understanding of database compression, encryption a plus
- Understanding of AWS a plus
Duties would include:
- Would be responsible to doing the patching efforts to include, but not limited to Exadata (grid, DBMS, DOM 0 monitoring, SA patching support)
- Working with team to find the best window(s)
- Scheduling with Oracle
- Creating and maintaining necessary change tickets
- Working with vendor to resolve issues
- Working with Oracle Cloud Tooling as necessary
- Would be responsible for weekend object changes to include pre-release object changes, releases, other as required and fit within shift
- Non-production object changes may occur on a daily basis
- Production object changes for off-release will need to be scheduled and coordinate with developers and CCB
- Regular releases into production during maintenance window
- Work would include database upgrades (i.e. 19c to 23c) and assisting as necessary
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation
- Other database related duties as required
