Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager, Eastern Canada will be located in Ontario, Canada. This individual is accountable for the day-to-day management of a sales team in Ontario, Quebec & Atlantic Canada with a focus on driving sales, training, coaching and developing their team. They will be responsible for all issues related to the team's sales activities to meet and exceed sales targets and coordinating funnel and sales forecasting activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment and management of sales personnel.
- Identify objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings.
- Collaborate with their Manager in establishing and recommending the most realistic sales goals for the company.
- Perform sales activities on major accounts and negotiate sales price and discounts in consultation with Finance team and Business Unit Leadership.
- Accurately forecast annual, quarterly and monthly revenue streams.
- Collaborate with their Manager to develop sales strategies to improve market share in all product lines.
- Assist team in handling inquiries, complaints and service programs working through appropriate business function and acting as liaison with promotions, special programs, new products and other relevant activities to customers.
- Attend customer meetings and trade conferences as appropriate.
- Participate in the development of and/or review of cost proposals.
- Interpret short- and long-term effects on sales strategies in operating profit.
- Collaborate with Finance team and Business Unit Leadership to establish and control budgets for sales promotion and trade show expenses.
- Ensure solutions to business challenges are implemented.
- All other duties as assigned and requested.
Talent Management
- Design optimal team structure and attract and retain top talent to deliver targeted results.
- Lead direct reports in the execution of strategies and long range goals.
- Provide leadership to direct reports in the execution of goal setting and performance management.
- Provide assistance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving employee work performance problems to improve employee knowledge, skills and work performance.
- Motivate and coach employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction, productivity and quality through effectively utilizing available rewards and recognition channels.
Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of sales leadership experience directly managing a team of sales representatives.
- 10+ years’ experience in sales with a record of demonstrated achievements and leadership
- Sales Manager in the Wholesale Group/Building Products Industry with a minimum of 2 years’ experience directly related to the new construction industry
- Post Secondary education, preferably in Business, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the P&L process.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- A strong work ethic, hunter mentality, love of sales, and the drive to get out in the field and support existing business and/or pursue new business daily.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Strong business acumen with a customer-centric orientation and excellent relationship building skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree, preferably in Business.
- Prior work experience as National Account/Divisional Sales Manager, Marketing, District Manager
- Understanding of Customers and strategy to properly plan and execute programs.
- Bilingual- French & English is preferred
Environmental Conditions
- 40% travel within territory by automobile. Travel to Quebec once a quarter or when required by customer needs.
- This role will be working remotely out of home office 60% of time.
