Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Business System Analyst (BSA) is responsible for understanding and drafting requirements for a particular case, or step of a case, and determining how functional requirements translate into technical specifications. The BSA translates functional requirements into a technical statement of work from which developers can code solutions. The BSA works directly with Product Management, Client Services, Development, SQL Developers, QA Data Analysts, other BSAs, department Team Leads, and others to understand all aspects of the case and to determine and document the data-oriented solution.
Job Responsibilities
Interact with internal users and key stakeholders on a daily basis to understand client needs. Develop and publish technical specifications, technical requirements and other documentation as needed.
Work with SQL Developers, QA Data Analysts, and other team members to design testing strategies and plans to ensure all outcomes are achieved as expected. Analyze data to ensure requirements are being met, organize and lead pre-production review exercises, as well as provide consultation to Client Services on User Acceptance testing to ensure results are acceptable and meet requirements.
Follow prescribed software development standards, processes, procedures, methodologies, etc. according to departmental policies and conventions.
Interact and correspond professionally with team members, project management, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure production work flows smoothly.
Account for and accurately log time against project work.
Present technical material in an understandable manner to technical/non-technical audiences and decision-makers to aid them in their decisions.
Job Requirements:
BS Computer Science or related disciplines, or equivalent experience
1-3 years experience as a Project Manager, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Process Specialist, or other role where business functional requirements are captured and decomposed
Experience with relational databases and ability to comprehend low to medium complex SQL logic desired, including querying databases and basic table joints
Basic understanding of data modeling and data organizations
Proficient with MS Office tools, particularly Excel and MS Access
Ability to work in an environment with deadlines and shifting priorities
Ability to learn new processes or procedures with minimal direction and guidance
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; able to adjust for intended audience
Fluency in English
