Job Overview

American Claims Management, a part of Davies Specialty Programs, is looking for a Commercial Liability Adjuster(Auto Property Damage) to handle investigation of coverage, liability and damages, negotiating with claimants, attorneys and other insurance carriers, through the life of the claim. Reporting to the Commercial Liability Supervisor, you will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of reserves and payments, presenting large loss report and communicating with their manager as well as internal and external customers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage and control risk for specialty risk clients
  • Negotiate and settle large exposure liability and property claims
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations to clients
  • Ability to interpret routine and complex policy contracts and coverage.
  • Ability to plan, organize and establish priorities to maintain various responsibilities under critical deadlines.
  • Attend mediations and settlement conferences as necessary
  • Direct and monitor defense counsel to settle litigated claims
  • Provide monetary authority and strategy to counsel to ensure client’s money and claims are protected
  • Knowledge of current case law, statutory law, DOI regulations, etc. that apply to claims practices and issues within the territory of operation.
  • The ability to determine, evaluate, investigate and resolve claims
  • Demonstrate sound analytical skills.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Multiple state adjuster licenses preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex claims at every angle including litigation, coverage, damage analysis, experts, reserving, subrogation and risk transfer.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and recommendations to clients.
  • Ability to analyze and research legal and claim trends.
  • Ability to understand policies and strong reading, writing skills.
  • Legal experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret estimates.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related claims and business software.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Assertive self-starter with excellent organizational skills. Team player. Good attendance.
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced position ensuring all policies and procedures are managed to expected timeframes.

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a home-based, full time, salaried, exempt position that predominantly operates remotely from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary.
