Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Technician to support our software and hardware engineering teams in the development and maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging systems. The Quality Technician will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our charging products. The role involves testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure that all systems meet the necessary quality standards for both softwareand hardware components.
Role Responsibilities:
Support Software and Hardware Testing at the Center of Excellence Lab:
- Conduct functional and performance testing of EV charging hardware components, including power systems, charging cables, payment systems, and electronic components.
- Assist in testing and validating embedded software, user interfaces, and communication protocols within the charging systems (e.g., OCPP, CAN, Modbus, etc…).
- Execute both manual and automated test scripts to evaluate software behavior in real-world conditions.
- Perform regression, stress, safety and load testing for integrated software and hardware systems.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Identify, analyze, and document defects, inconsistencies, or performance bottlenecks in the charging systems.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to investigate issues, reproduce errors, and propose corrective actions.
- Perform root cause analysis on hardware failures and software bugs, providing detailed reports to the quality engineering team.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of test results, inspection processes, and quality control activities.
- Assist in the creation and update of quality control procedures, test plans, and technical documentation.
- Provide feedback on product design and manufacturing processes to optimize quality and reduce defects.
Quality Assurance Support:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for EV charging systems (e.g., ISO 9001, UL, IEC standards).
- Participate in regular audits and inspections of hardware, software, and test equipment to maintain quality standards.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability in measurements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with vendor quality engineers, development engineers and quality assurance team members to align quality goals with engineering objectives.
- Provide technical support and training to team members and end users on troubleshooting and quality control procedures.
Qualifications
Relevant Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as a Quality Technician or similar role in the electronics, automotive, or EV charging industry.
- Familiarity with both hardware (e.g., PCBs, power electronics) and software testing (e.g., embedded systems, user interfaces).
- Knowledge of testing tools and software such as Jira, LabVIEW, or equivalent is required.
Education (Required):
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Quality Assurance, or related field.
Education (Desired):
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician, Six Sigma) are a plus.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Basic programming knowledge (Python, C++) or experience with automation testing tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as OCPP, CAN bus, and EV charging communication protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and software documentation.
Work Flexibility:
- Ability to work in a laboratory or production environment with potential exposure to electrical hazards.
- Some travel may be required to visit supplier sites, charging locations, or client facilities.
