You will be responsible for all databases in production and non-production environments, including support, administration, maintenance, backup and restore, monitoring and performance tuning. You will assist the development teams to utilise the databases correctly and maintain data integrity.

Responsibilities:

Development Support:

1. Support and guide developers on database related development and design best practices

2. Review and approve database-related code written by developers

Database Administration:

1. Monitor database health and performance metrics

2. Support live situations and respond to alerts (errors, locks, deadlocks, availability etc.)

3. Perform maintenance tasks including backup and restore, engine upgrades, data migrations and parameter changes

4. Create database functions and triggers

5. Maintain and improve Data Integrity

6. Improve performance - find problematic queries or parameters and advise on solutions

Requirements:

1. 3+ years administering production PostgreSQL databases

2. Proficient in reading and writing SQL queries including window functions

3. Proficient in DB programming - creating triggers, functions etc.

4. Proficient in Data Modelling - designing tables and relations

5. Proficient in performance tuning

6. Capable of giving support in a live situation

7. 1+ years of High-Level Programming experience

8. 1+ years of managing cloud databases (AWS, GCP)

9. Experience with the following tools:

   1. Git (version control)

   2. Docker and Kubernetes

Nice to have :

1. Experience with other RDBMS systems

2. Experience with NoSQL and other database types such as timeseries and graph
