Overview of Position

Assurant is hiring an experienced individual to be a key member of the Investment Analytics team in the Office of the Chief Investment Officer (OCIO). The Office of the Chief Investment Officer (the “OCIO”) is responsible for oversight and management of Assurant’s $9 billion plus global fixed income investment portfolio including investment strategy, actuarial and risk, portfolio and risk analytics, compliance, reporting, and administration and operations.

The Portfolio Analyst will be part of a small but talented team of investment professionals with an opportunity to directly impact and contribute to the investment performance of the portfolio. This role will work closely with key members of the investment team, external investment managers, the global finance organization, technology and other key areas to deliver and analyze results and to deliver on projects and priorities.

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

  • Support key processes to conduct the analysis of risk and return in the global investment portfolio

  • Monitor the investment portfolios to ensure they are invested in accordance with the firm’s strategic asset allocation (SAA), tactical asset allocation (TAA), investment policy, and constraints and guidelines, as applicable

  • Support preparation, review and analysis of portfolio returns and attribution on both an income and total return basis including analysis of manager activity and its impact on income performance

  • Prepare periodic reviews of portfolio composition and market results for presentation materials to key stakeholders

  • Support production of portfolio dashboards and portfolio exposure and compliance reports, leveraging technology tools

  • Contribute to the design and enhancement of analytical desk tools to increase efficiency

  • Improve data verification from various sources to improve downstream reporting, mitigate risk and reduce errors

  • Support with preparation and analysis of quarterly actual results, forecasts and management reporting presentations

  • Collaborate with internal and external investment teams on portfolio initiatives

  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned

  • Responsibility for managing project resources

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience across the fixed income asset classes

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Knowledge and experience with US Statutory, US GAAP, and US tax considerations for insurance company investing

  • Microsoft Excel skills including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)

  • Experience with SQL/TSQL or another query language

  • Proficiency with business intelligence (BI) tools including PowerBI

  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Experience with Bloomberg utilizing portfolio analysis tools

  • Experience working closely with investment professionals at all levels

  • Proven project management skills

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and faced paced environment.

  • Ability to work in a team but also understand instructions quickly and work independently

  • Organizational skills and flexibility in handling multiple demands and changing priorities

  • Ability to problem solve, provide new ideas and suggestions

  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills

  • Self-motivated

  • Diagnose issues, mitigate risk and make recommendations toward process improvements

Pay Range:

$100,800.00 - $168,400.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
