Job Description
As a full-time Bilingual Legal Assistant, you’ll be the vital link between our attorney and Spanish-speaking clients, facilitating clear communication and efficient case management. This role offers a unique opportunity to utilize your language skills and legal knowledge in a meaningful way, directly impacting the lives of individuals and families navigating the complex immigration system. You’ll be involved in various aspects of case preparation, client communication, and document management, gaining invaluable experience in immigration law while working remotely.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Spanish-speaking clients, providing clear and compassionate communication
- Gather, organize, and manage critical documents for diverse immigration cases
- Assist in preparing legal forms, correspondence, and applications with meticulous attention to detail
- Provide accurate translations of documents and interpret during client meetings as needed
- Manage and prioritize multiple client cases simultaneously, ensuring timely progress and follow-ups
- Coordinate with the attorney to prepare for hearings, interviews, and other legal proceedings
- Stay updated on immigration law changes and assist in communicating these updates to clients
- Native-level fluency in both Spanish and English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Exceptional writing skills in both languages, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly
- Experience in a legal setting, preferably in immigration law (or strong interest and willingness to learn quickly)
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills to handle a diverse caseload efficiently
- Keen attention to detail and high accuracy in handling sensitive legal documents
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in legal software and case management systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and potential expanded responsibilities as the firm grows
Requirements
