Job Overview

Davies Claims Solutions is looking for a Claims Adjuster to join our growing team! Reporting to the Claims Supervisor, you will investigate and evaluate losses while developing a plan of action to bring claims to proper resolution in a timely manner.

To be successful in this role, you must present thorough and accurate reports to clients and excess carriers on claims investigations and situations, determine extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim, and negotiate settlements for resolutions with claimants and their attorneys. You must have a college degree or equivalent business experience and at 1 to 3 years of experience handling property and casualty claims. Additionally, you will need to exhibit the capability of conducting investigations in multi-party situations, as well as perform a variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed while meeting time sensitive deadlines. This role is a full-time, home-based position that may require travel at times.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Determine the extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim
  • Investigate claims, including interviewing claimants, clients, and witnesses
  • Obtain necessary records, including but not limited to, hospital records, police reports, and physician records
  • Conduct NMVTIS and CMS/Section 111 reporting
  • Utilize appropriate preferred vendors
  • Present thorough and accurate reports to clients and excess carriers on claims investigations and situations
  • Negotiate settlements for resolutions with claimants and their attorneys
  • Maintain control of litigation activities and costs, per account requirements
  • Effectively address and maintain incoming Docuclass documents in a consistent and timely manner
  • Attend meetings, mediations, conferences, workshops, and/or training sessions as needed
  • Review written material to maintain current knowledge on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas
  • Maintain CEU credits and meet state specific licensing requirements
  • Respond to client questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
  • Responsible for catastrophic losses, complex litigation, and other sensitive issues
  • Travel as necessary and/or requested

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • Must hold an active Adjuster License
  • Maintain CEU credits for Adjuster License
  • 1 to 3 years of experience handling property and casualty, auto, and general liability claims
  • Capability of understanding and following oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Conduct investigations in multi-party situations
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Exhibit a strong ability to prepare and present accurate, reliable, and factual reports with recommendations
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current principles and practices associated with claims investigations, adjustment, and related practices
  • Incorporate extensive knowledge of medical and legal terminology with a thorough understanding of legal principles/litigation management
  • Communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing
  • Possess ability and willingness to learn quickly and utilize new skills resulting from rapidly changing information and/or technology
  • Adept at comprehending multi-state laws and regulations to assist other offices, as necessary

Preferred

  • 3 to 5 years of experience handling property and casualty, auto, and general liability claims
  • Experience with handling claims in multiple jurisdictions

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, home-based, position that predominantly operates remotely from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary. Additionally, travel may be required at times as deemed necessary.
