Within the Income Tax (IH) chain, one of the major challenges in the coming years is the phasing out of Cool:Gen. This should be a fact in 2026. In this modernization, we have reached the point where we can scale up. A number of processes have been successfully completed and we can now include the lessons learned in the follow-up processes.
The Modernization will ultimately lead to the creation of a completely new application landscape. The Modernization uses: Java, Angular, Business Rule Management (BRM), Web services and SOA architecture. As a Functional Tester, you will work in a multidisciplinary team (approx. 7 people) that works on a partial solution on a project basis. This is done using an Agile method with PIs and sprints. You have good contact with the Acceptance Testers, Designer and Builders in order to form a good idea of what you need to test. We perform automated testing in addition to manual testing. The Automated Tests are performed with Cucumber and Playwright.

Background Assignment
The Information Provision (IV) group component of the Tax and Customs Administration is set up to provide all ICT facilities for the Tax and Customs Administration processes. The IV component Integration Business Services (IBS) Income Tax (IH) produces these facilities in connection with the primary process of the Income Tax chain. We are working on one of the most business-critical systems in the Netherlands, in which many applications are produced and integrated into one working solution by the IV IBS Income Tax.
Quality is paramount in realizing the products and services for citizens, companies and tax authorities employees. In order to be able to respond quickly and flexibly to the wishes of our stakeholders in the future, we continuously invest in the renewal of our products and organize our working methods in such a way that we deliver the desired results in collaboration with many parties. We are preparing and implementing large-scale adjustments in the application landscape of the Income Tax. We are doing this over several years and in a controlled manner, so that the processes of the Tax Authorities that we support can continue to operate unhindered, but are renewed at the same time.
This requires a lot from us as an IV organization. All desired changes in legislation and regulations, but also business innovation and modernization of the application landscape must be implemented in a timely manner and by the right parties.

- Demonstrable experience with test data preparation and database analysis using SQL. Demonstrable experience with testing web service APIs (REST, JSON, HTTP).
- Experience with monitoring analysis. Monitoring logging framworks like; Splunk, Kibana, Kubernetes, Jaeger, etc.
- Experience with testing in a complex architectural landscape. Preferably a distributed service landscape (SOA/Microservice).
