Job Title: Sr. Copywriter, UGG

Reports to:  Sr. Manager, Copy - UGG

Location:  Remote, Southern California

The Role

The Senior Copywriter plays a pivotal role in shaping the UGG brand voice, leveraging their extensive experience in storytelling, writing, and creating content for a contemporary fashion lifestyle audience. They should be adept at capturing the essence of a story while embodying the brand’s tone of voice to drive the objectives of each writing assignment. This role demands strategic thinking, a consumer-centric approach, and a zest for tackling new challenges.

The Senior Copywriter should be a trendsetter, keeping a finger on the pulse of the latest trends in apparel and footwear fashion. They should keenly understand the industry’s trajectory and UGG’s direction in terms of materialization, innovation, and sustainability, reflecting their commitment to staying ahead of the curve.

The role is remote, but the Senior Copywriter must be willing to present in-office or other locations to learn new products, materials, and innovations and participate in team events and meetings. The copywriter must feel comfortable with on-site work for product research as needed and at the discretion of the Senior Manager of Copy.

They contribute to product communications across touchpoints from conception to execution (pre-season and in-season), evolving the UGG tone of voice along the way in line with industry best practices.

The Senior Copywriter, a key member of our Copy Team, works closely with cross-departmental partners to complete and create various content types. This collaborative approach, including campaign storytelling, blog posts, eComm copy, and more, ensures that our brand’s voice is consistent and resonates with our audience. We also cover planning and research documents together, launching each new campaign as a unified team.

The Senior Copywriter is a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who develops strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams. They are instrumental in shaping how we communicate about specific products/collections and why, aligning their work with the broader objectives of our partnered teams.

The Senior Copywriter doesn’t just tell you why you should buy a product, but they tell you the story of you + the product.

They will also be a skilled editor/proofreader with an eye for details (from punctuation to grammar to product naming conventions to DEI implications), working at every turn to position UGG as a sophisticated, intelligent, consistent, and socially responsible brand.

Above all, we seek someone who can bring positive, healthy energy to our organization. Highly collaborative individuals who love and seek valuable stakeholder feedback will succeed in this role. The role is fast-paced, and our objectives may change. What will not is our commitment to excellence and the UGG Brand.

This is not a management-level role, and the Senior Copywriter should feel comfortable operating as an individual contributor on an assignment-based level.

We are a small team, so we often reach across each other’s responsibilities to help and fill in as needed. You could succeed in this role if you are flexible, open-minded, and goal-oriented.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write copy for, but not limited to, emails, campaigns, eComm platforms, sales meetings, market research, retail, blog series, and internal documents to support seasonal projects
  • Available to assist anywhere throughout the Go To Market process as needed
  • Evolve UGG TOV for new categories (e.g., Apparel, Sustainability)
  • Work in-season with cross-functional partners (e.g., Omni, Merchandising, UX) to develop/execute storytelling and consumer journey for critical product launches.
  • Develop conventions on how UGG communicates across platforms and touchpoints.

OTHER EVERY DAY EXPECTED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to CSR communications, especially those related to materials and innovations, and vet said materials with Legal partners.
  • Write and edit brand directives and toolkits, tracking changes along the directive and GTM processes and updating copy accordingly.
  • Contribute to copy documents for each campaign at varying levels, depending on the campaign size.
  • Contribute to team growth through training and guidance for new and current team members; training, walk throughs, guides, hand offs to help others understand tasks and duties.
