Overview

LMI seeks a skilled Training Manager to support activities related to shipyard modernization as part of enterprise-wide U.S. Navy strategic modernization and improvement efforts. LMI is helping NAVSUP, NAVSEA, and the shipyards use technology to track materiel through the shipyards to address long-standing problems. The Training Manager will develop, validate, and update training plans and materials, answer training inquiries, and provide clear summary responses as needed to users and government leadership. The Training Manager will deploy video, self-guided instructional manuals, online and in-person training. The candidate filling this position must be proactive, articulate, and comfortable interacting with key leadership. Remote work is acceptable with flexibility to go into the office based on client’s request. This position requires an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees training programs, staff, and budgets; creating training project plans and selecting course content and materials for training programs.

  • Reviews and selects training materials from a variety of vendors, updates training programs to ensure that they are relevant, teach training methods and skills to instructors and supervisors, and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and instructors.

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs skills- and knowledge-enhancement programs for an organization’s staff.

  • Interprets and analyzes requirements obtained/derived from customer; review, verify and/or validate system specifications and other design-related documentation.

  • Identifies and assesses training needs, aligning training with organizational goals, creating tailored training plans, and implementing various training methods.

  • Develops training materials and technical documentation (e.g., training plans, training aids, handouts).

  • Coordinates with subject matter experts and content owners throughout the development cycle to ensure training program meets business needs.

  • Coordinates administration and logistics of training courses and conduct training courses. 

  • Monitors training program effectiveness, manage budgets, and stays updated on training trends.

  • Verifies and recommends changes and updates to training materials and technical documentation.

  • Validates training materials, instructor certifications, reference materials and technical manuals used in performance of orientation training.

  • Provides management with regular and ad-hoc reporting on training courses, materials, and results.

  • Keeps current with new training topics and techniques.

Percentage of Travel Required: 10%

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, education, Training & Organizational Development, or related subject.
  • Experience in instructional systems design, with 5-7 years’ experience as a Training Manager with a demonstrated track record of leading, designing, and conducting training solutions.
  • Experience with development software programs such as Camtasia, Captivate, Storyline and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of and experienced in adult learning principles.
  • Proven experience leading the strategic and tactical elements of training program and course design and development to deliver innovative training utilizing industry ISD standards such as ADDIE and SAM for instructor-led, scenario-based, and web-based training.
  • Experience using a content management system/learning management system (LMS) to upload, organize, and manage training content.
  • Proven success in evaluating learning programs to determine program success and improvements necessary. 
  • Understanding of accessibility (508) and universal design principals in training development.
  • Skilled in problem solving, analytic thinking, and debugging.
  • Must be self-directed and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work with multiple stakeholders in different parts of the country both in person and through remote technologies.
  • Exceptional ability to plan, prioritize and execute on multiple projects at one time.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree with a concentration in organizational development or training and development.
  • Consulting experience supporting Department of Defense and/or government clients.
  • Consulting capability with leaders at all levels to design strategic solutions to address agency/program organizational needs.
  • Experience with implementing experiential and gamification learning techniques.
