Department Overview:

Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) is part of the National Primate Research Centers program funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1961. The WNPRC advances scientific collaboration and discovery, education and training. We provide compassionate and expert animal care while contributing to improving human and animal health and quality of life from early development through aging. The center serves more than 250 scientists and clinicians from around the world who conduct research in primate biology with relevance to human and animal health.
The Compliance, Records, Safety and Training Unit ensures that WNPRC personnel and facilities remain compliant with all institutional, state, and federal regulations governing the use of non-human primates in laboratory animal research.

Qualifications:

Per the State of Wisconsin, individuals must be at least 18 years of age to enter animal areas, therefore applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of start date.
This position does not include direct contact with nonhuman primates, however, it does require entering nonhuman primate housing areas to complete administrative tasks.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to maintain confidential information
Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
Intermediate computer skills- ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools

Effective written and oral communication

Strong attention to detail and excellent time management

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position will use the following programs on a daily basis: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, Google Drive, Box.com, and PowerDMS

Primary duties include:

Tracking facility access and safety requirements in spreadsheets and awarding completion certificates.
Inputting medical clearance information into WNPRC’s databases (including TB and measles clearances, respirator fit tests, vaccination clearances, etc.)
Emailing clearance and training status updates
Checking exposure and first aid kits (in animal areas, laboratories and offices)
Carrying out routine flushing of non-animal area eye wash stations and emergency showers
Entering basic animal record data
Maintain office materials/files per guidelines, policies, and procedures defined for record keeping

Physical Demands:

The WNPRC is a tuberculosis and measles free environment. Tuberculosis screening will be required initially and every six months thereafter. Proof of measles vaccination is also required. Individuals without documentation of measles vaccinations may obtain a blood titer, or vaccination at Occupational Medicine, or from their health care provider.

This position is 100% on site.

Additional PPE is required for entry into the animal areas.

Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
