Company Overview:
Our group is a leading asset management and commercial finance firm specializing in private credit and alternative investments. Our firm manages a diverse range of funds across structured credit, asset-backed lending, and SME loan portfolios. We are seeking an exceptionally detail-oriented and hard-working Fund Accountant to support our accounting and reporting needs with a focus on our private credit structures.
Job Summary:
The Fund Accountant will provide critical support in accounting, reporting, and operational processes for the firm’s private credit fund structures. This role requires a highly conscientious, persistent, and meticulous individual who thrives in a fast-paced and complex environment. While experience with fund accounting systems is a plus, strong general accounting skills and the ability to adapt quickly are key.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting and Reconciliation:
- Accurately record and reconcile transactions, including:
- Investment/portfolio activity
- Inter-affiliate transactions
- Currency and forward/swap transactions
- Capital stock transactions (purchases, redemptions, and distributions)
- Maintain accurate fund-specific metrics, including performance reporting and related calculations
- Financial and Management Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial and management reports, including IFRS, US GAAP, and custom/ad-hoc reporting.
- Assist with generating fund-specific metrics and investor performance reporting.
- Liquidity and Bank Oversight:
- Help manage liquidity by reconciling cash balances and monitoring bank activities from an accounting perspective.
- Record and track activity related to revolving credit facilities and inter-entity cash flows.
- Currency Hedging Support:
- Assist with accounting entries and reconciliations for currency hedging strategies, including forward contracts and swaps, ensuring accurate reflection in financial records.
- Special Projects and Investigations:
- Conduct thorough investigations into complex operational questions and reconcile discrepancies.
- Provide support on ad-hoc projects, such as system enhancements and process improvements.
- Compliance and Tax Reporting Support:
- Assist with preparation of schedules and other materials required for regulatory and tax reporting purposes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally with exposure to financial services, private credit, or alternative investments.
- Key Traits:
- Extremely detail-oriented, conscientious, and hard-working.
- Persistent and meticulous in resolving discrepancies and delivering accurate work.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in general accounting systems; familiarity with fund accounting platforms is a plus but not required.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP reporting standards.
- Soft Skills:
- Clear and effective communicator.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
