Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Accounting Assistant to join our growing real estate company. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled finance professional to contribute to the success of a dynamic and expanding real estate management company.

Work Schedule:
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm UK TIME
  • 1 hour unpaid break for lunch
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of rent collection and reconciliation processes.
  • Liaise with property managers and tenants to resolve any discrepancies or issues in rent payments.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of rent payments and arrears, including deferred rent schedules
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts for the real estate portfolio.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure financial reports meet their informational needs.
  • Provide detailed commentary on variances between budgeted and actual performance.
  • Investigate underlying factors contributing to variances and propose corrective actions.
  • Communicate variance analysis findings effectively to management and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with the commercial team to evaluate performance.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and optimise portfolio performance.
  • Assist in the development of financial models and forecasts for new and existing properties.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Implement and maintain effective financial controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and timely financial information.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for accounts related to the assets.
  • Identify and investigate any discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records.
  • Ensure accurate recording and classification of all banking transactions.
  • Process journal entries for prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and other relevant transactions.
  • Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities, ensuring accurate recognition in financial reports.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate posting of journals in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Perform commercial analysis to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Update key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the financial and operational health of the real estate portfolio.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on KPI analysis.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Accountant position experience preferably involving real estate accounts
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. ACCA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, analysis, and reporting software (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
