We are seeking a skilled Freight Broker to join our client's team. The Freight Broker will be responsible for managing the transportation of goods via truckload shipments, from vetting, quoting, and execution to post-shipment follow-up. With expertise in freight brokerage and utilization of related applications and management tools, the Freight Broker will ensure seamless and efficient transportation operations for our client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quoting and Pricing: Utilize freight rate databases, market knowledge, and negotiation skills to accurately quote truckload shipments for clients, considering factors such as distance, weight, and shipment urgency.
- Carrier Selection: Identify and onboard qualified carriers for truckload transportation, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and service requirements.
- Shipment Execution: Coordinate and execute truckload shipments, including dispatching carriers, managing pickup and delivery schedules, and addressing any issues or delays that may arise during transit.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with carriers and clients to provide updates on shipment status, address inquiries or concerns, and ensure a smooth transportation process from start to finish.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all necessary documentation, such as bills of lading and shipping manifests, are accurately completed and transmitted in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve any issues or challenges related to shipments, including discrepancies in pricing, shipment delays, or equipment shortages.
- Post-shipment Follow-up: Conduct post-shipment follow-up with clients and carriers to confirm delivery, address any outstanding issues, and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage or related roles within the transportation industry.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of truckload transportation operations, including freight rates, carrier selection, and regulatory compliance.
- Technological Proficiency: Proficient in using freight brokerage platforms, transportation management systems (TMS), and related software applications.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with carriers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Problem-solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly and effectively resolve issues as they arise.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in managing documentation and ensuring compliance with procedures.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
